Create a one-of-a-kind holiday keepsake inspired by the artistry of First Lady Caroline Scott Harrison during this special Victorian Christmas experience at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site.
The day begins with a guided holiday tour of the historic Harrison residence, exploring Victorian Christmas traditions and seasonal décor. Guests will then enjoy a brief curator-led program highlighting Caroline Scott Harrison’s celebrated china painting work and the role porcelain art played in Victorian culture.
Following the program, participants will join instructors from Porcelain Art School of Indiana (PASI) for a hands-on porcelain ornament workshop inspired by the same artistic traditions Caroline herself practiced. Guests will learn the basics of china painting while creating and hand-painting their own porcelain Christmas ornament to treasure for years to come.
Throughout the event, guests can enjoy light holiday refreshments including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and seasonal charcuterie.
Please note: ornaments will be professionally fired after the workshop and will be available for pickup at the Presidential Site at a later date.
All materials, instruction, and firing are included in the ticket price. No prior artistic experience is necessary.
